West Valley Running Club

How does it work?

All students in all grades will be encouraged to participate every day by walking, running , hopping, skipping, or jumping around the West Valley track. After each lap is completed, the student will have their lap card punched by a volunteer. Each completed card equals 5 miles and ribbons will be presented weekly for each 5 miles reached.

Other awards and incentives will be given for 25, 50, 75 mile increments.

At the end of the school year, if the entire school has run a total of 11, 462 miles, Mrs. Brown, our wonderful Principal will have her hair dyed green and will sit in a dunk tank and get dunked! For students in grades 1-5, the Running Club will take place during lunchtime. Kindergarteners will go out to the track (usually) separate from Primary and Intermediate Sudents.

We need volunteers to make this work!

If you can come out and punch lap cards at lunch time (11:25-12:40) please let me know what day you would like to come. You can come once a week or every other week...just let me know. It is not a difficult job and only requires a little bit of your time.

Our kick off day is this Thursday, September 14th, 2006 so we will need many lap card punchers! It will be an exciting kick off with balloons and Wiley, our school mascot making a special visit.

Come out and help us make this a success!
