Every Child Deserves Music and Art
The CEEF Campaign/or Cultural Arts and Information Literacy WHAT IS CEEF? The Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation (CEEF) is a community foundation that raises funds for the educational benefit of students in the Cupertino Union School District. CEEF was incorporated in 1984 and has distributed $7.2 million directly to our schools since 1989. WHAT IS THE CAMPAIGN FOR CULTURAL ARTS AND INFORMATION LITERACY? CEEF has created a new restricted endowment fund, specifically to restore funding in three areas: music, art, and information literacy (library and computer services). WHAT IS AN ENDOWMENT? An endowment is a large fund designed so that income from the principle can be used to provide annual funding while the principle remains intact. WHY DO WE NEED A NEW ENDOWMENT? The current CEEF endowment will continue to provide financial support to critical programs, such as math, science, and language arts. The new restricted endowment will ensure permanent funding for music, art, and information literacy, and will provide consistent and challenging programs for each child throughout our district. HOW MUCH MONEY DO WE NEED TO RAISE? We need to raise $6 million to fully fund the programs. CEEF will be able to provide annual funding of at least $534,000 for cultural arts and information literacy programs. HOW CAN WE DO THIS? CEEF has already committed the first $2 million toward establishing the new endowment. In addition, a lead gift campaign has raised more than $3 million to date. Now, $1 million remains to be raised. HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT?
Public school funding will be dramatically cut by the state this year. An investment in the CEEF campaign will provide benefits for every district child in 2003, as well as for generations to come. HOW CAN I HELP? Our campaign to raise the remaining $1 million starts now! Campaign chairs will be working at every school in the district, and we need other parents to pitch in, as well. Spread the word at your school. With your help, we will reach our goal and ensure that our children receive a complete education.
