Superintendent Phil Quon will be holding two community meetings and would like to invite all interested parents and community members to attend and hear what steps the District is taking to keep our facilities up-to-date and to maintain a safe and modern learning environment for our students.

Please attend any meeting that is convenient for you. Here is a list of the time and location of the meetings:

  • Tuesday, February 7, 2012 – 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Hyde Middle School, Multi-Purpose Room (19325 Bollinger Road in Cupertino)

Yearbook Cover Student Art Contest

The Yearbook Team will be holding a student art contest to create the cover for this year's yearbook. The contest is open to all Regnart students, and you may work alone or in groups.

The theme for this year's cover contest is "Regnart - Starting on The Road of Learning".

This year's contest is similar to the contest that created last year's great cover, pictured here. We received many fantastic entries, and look forward to another great cover this year!

You can download the packet of instructions and entry information here:

bit.ly/YBCoverContest2012

Because of printing requirements, the instructions are somewhat complicated. Please ask a parent or teacher for more information if you have questions about how to design your entry. You can always e-mail the Yearbook Team at regnart.yearbook@gmail.com.

The cover contest is open now. All completed entries are due in the Regnart Office by 3:30 PM on Friday, March 9.

Thanks for your help in making a great Yearbook this year!

Sip To Support Regnart at Jamba Juice!

You can help support Regnart PTA and its many programs by picking up a free Jamba School Appreciation Card in the Regnart Office from Mrs. Lockhart or Mrs. Louie.

When you go to Jamba Juice, swipe your Jamba School Card and Jamba will donate 10% of your purchase to Regnart PTA, and 2% to the National PTA. The Jamba School Card is accepted at all Jamba Juice locations and is good at any time you visit. There is no need to do any kind of sign-up - just get a card and start using it!

You only need one card for your visit to Jamba to count. If you have multiple kids, you can ring multiple smoothies on the same card, but you may want individual cards for each parent. After we've addressed initial demand for Jamba School Cards, you may get additional cards for relatives, friends, and co-workers, as available.

Thanks for supporting Regnart PTA!.

Contributing Images for the Regnart Yearbook

Contribute your pictures! Send us your photos of Halloween, Fall Festival, a field trip, or classroom activity. Your pictures will help us capture a rich view of life at Regnart. Last year’s Yearbook included over 1300 images, submitted by over 100 people. This amazing pool lets us create the colorful and amazing pages in the final book.

Deadline for Image Contributions is Friday, February 17.

Click here to read more about technical requirements and details about how to submit images to the Yearbook team.

Contact the Yearbook team at regnart.yearbook@gmail.com if you questions.

Sign Up To Design Pages in the Regnart Yearbook

To volunteer to do a page, just add your name to our online document.

You may add your name to an already-filled slot. We will contact everybody to confirm your assignment. Our first priority is to try to find parent designers for each classroom. We’ll also have instructional info for designers soon.

We build the yearbook using a simple but powerful web-based design tool which runs in your regular web browser. You can work on the page at any time of the day, in the comfort of your home. We will provide you with the images from your page, drawn from our large image pool.

You can reach the Yearbook team at regnart.yearbook@gmail.com for more info.

Renew your eScrip Participation Now!

Many Regnart families participate in eScrip which raises over $500 annually for PTA programs. To sign up, simply go online and register participating credit and store club cards. Your purchases are tracked, and a percentage of sales are donated by the retailers.

Our most popular eScrip contributor is Safeway. Safeway requests that eScrip members renew their participation on an annual basis to qualify for their donation. To renew, simply visit http://www.escrip.com and click on the red Safeway check box.

From there, identify yourself by your e-mail address, phone number, or with your Safeway club card number. That's all that's required to revalidate your account with Safeway for one year!

You must renew by October 31 to maintain uninterrupted contributions. Only Safeway requires this annual validation. You can click on the "my eScrip" link for more options and to see a contribution report (both individual and for the entire school).

You'll receive a reminder e-mail about renewing if you were previously subscribed. Each member must individually renew (we can't do this for you). If you need assistance, please contact us at regnart.escrip@gmail.com.

Please consider enrolling in eScrip - it's an easy, low-impact way to help out Regnart.

School Supply Lists for 2011-2012

Here are the school supply lists for 2011-2012 that were sent home on the last day of school:

Teachers may request specific supplies for their classes. These items will be posted in the classrooms the day before school starts (Aug 17).

Regnart Running Program

As we start into February, the Roadrunners have zoomed to 13,340 laps, approaching 4500 miles of lunchtime laps! At the halfway point of the year, more than 20% of Regnart students have finished half their lap cards.

This year's school-wide goal is to collectively run the distance from Cupertino to Barcelona, Spain. That's 5970 miles, or 17,910 laps.

Regnart Reading Program - Week 5/Final Results

The Reading Program shot to an incredible finish in its last week. The Roadrunners booked 200,790 minutes(!) which is over 3,346 hours! This blew past all previous weeks at an amazing 465% of the weekly target.

Overall, the final total hit an incredible 549,941 minutes or 9166 hours of reading. That's more than 1 year of non-stop reading for one person.

The school beat the five-week reading goal in the 3rd week. But even more amazing - the school also beat the 5-week goal in the last week alone!

Thanks to all the students, volunteers, and parents that make the Reading Program possible!

The Reading Program committee is chaired by Paula Yung and Kathy Liu and is sponsored by Regnart PTA.

Volunteering

Please consider supporting your child's classroom and the school by signing up as a volunteer. In the classrooms there are many ways to help out, in all grades:

  • Room Reps help plan classroom parties and facilitate communications with parents
  • Art Docent volunteers help run 4 hands-on art projects for the classroom
  • Project Cornerstone reps lead the class through a periodic book-based sessions that create awareness of respect and bullying issues
  • Reading Program volunteers handle recording tasks for the 5-week Reading Program
  • Yearbook volunteers take photos and work on page design

There are also many different volunteering opportunities on a non-classroom basis. Download the Parent Volunteers Needed form to learn more and sign up.

We've also introduced a new Regnart Volunteering Hotline e-mail list that you can subscribe to and get occasional notices of volunteering needs. You have no obligation to participate, but we hope that you'll try to help out if you can.
