ASSEMBLIES

Throughout the year, students gather for interesting and informative presentations. The assemblies cover a wide range of topics, such as, poetry, diversity, drug awareness, authors, musicians, and wildlife. The assemblies are educational as well as entertaining.

We always welcome suggestions for new and interesting assemblies. In recent years, we've had great luck with a number of free presentations, and always appreciate your recommendations. Please contact the PTA Vice-President / Assembly Coordinator with your suggestions or for more information.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT

This night provides parents the opportunity to meet your child's teacher and find out what the school year holds for your son or daughter. This an important evening where your child's teacher will cover grade level expectations, instructional materials, homework policies, and how specific subjects are taught. Your presence at Back to School Night will help both you and you child better understand what is expected for the coming school year!

Because of the limited time teachers have to present all the important material, if you have concerns about your child and would like to talk to the teacher, please schedule a individual appointment at another time.

This is an evening for parents only. Please do not bring any children to school, as there is no supervision or childcare provided.

DISCOVERY DAY

Discovery Day is our student's introduction to the many jobs in our community. We invite professionals from a wide variety of fields to discuss their jobs, responsibilities, and training as well as fielding questions. We draw heavily from our parent community as well as from throughout the area.

We are always looking for new and interesting presenters, both from within and outside the Regnart community. The booking process begins in the fall, so please contact the Discovery Day chairperson with your suggestions and to get more information.

FALL FESTIVAL

Fall Festival is a popular event for the entire Regnart community. There are game booths, music, and food booths on the playground. There's an obstacle course and jump house on the field. Best of all, is the famous Regnart Haunted House, with a scare for all! Don't miss it.

The Fall Festival stations are supported by volunteers from each classroom, so plan to sign up for this great family event.

FAMILY FUN

Enjoy a fun night with your Regnart friends and families! Throughout the year, Family Fun nights will make for a pleasant break from school or work. Past Family Fun nights have included art workshops, movie nights, and even a Bingo Night with great prizes. Watch for the next Family Fun night coming up soon!

HALLOWEEN

This is always a fun-filled afternoon for the students! Every year the students have a parade followed by a class party. The parade takes a lap around the field so everybody has a chance to see and be seen. Parents are welcome to come enjoy the fun!

In the spirit of maintaining a safe, fun and weapon-free environment we ask for your support in several areas:

  • Students' costumes are in good taste and not violent in nature.
  • Students' costumes should not include fake or pretend weapons and/or explosives.
  • Costumes are comfortable, safe and easy to walk in.
  • Vision is not hampered in any way.
  • No hair spray only minimum make-up.
  • Students are to bring their costumes in a bag labeled with their name and room number with them to school on parade day.
  • Costumes that can be worn over your child's regular clothes would be greatly preferred.
  • For safety reasons, skateboards, roller blades or roller skates may not be a part of a costume.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL

Regnart PTA's Annual Ice Cream Social is the first social/community event of the school year. Families gather to enjoy free Ice Cream compliments of the PTA, meet new families, and share summer stories with longtime friends. All Regnart families are invited and encouraged to attend.

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

The International Festival celebrates the diversity of our school community. Parents and students research and present informative booths that show the best of many countries. There are also internationally-themed performances, presentations, and (of course) food. Students will be able to participate in various activities, appreciate different cultures through these activities, and become more aware of the world around them.

LAST BLAST / TALENT SHOW

Last Blast is the final social event for our Regnart community before summer break. The graduating 5th graders will present an entertaining talent show to a packed GLC. It's a great send off to a long, fun summer.

OPEN HOUSE / ART SHOW

Open House is held each spring and provides an opportunity for students and parents to visit the classrooms together, talk with the teachers, and view some of the work students have completed during the school year. This is a fun night for your child to show off their classroom, to show you what a wonderful year it's been. You will see many wonderful projects that students have been working on during the year. There will also be a show of the student's Art Docent projects from the entire year displayed in the GLC.

RED RIBBON WEEK

Every year Regnart participates in the National Campaign against drugs, smoking and alcohol. The red ribbon symbolizes the commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Red ribbons are displayed every year during Red Ribbon Week to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a drug-free America. This is a great time to talk to your child about remaining drug-free.

REFLECTIONS

Founded in 1969, Reflections is the National PTA's art contest. Your child can demonstrate his/her abilities in any of six areas - Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Video/Film Production. There is a unifying theme selected each year. Judging emphasizes creative interpretation rather than technical skill. This is an excellent way for students to use their creativity while challenging them to use their critical thinking skills!

For more information on the competition, including rules and entry information, visit the Reflections website.
