About the School
Montclaire,
located in Los Altos, California, is 1 of 25 schools in the Cupertino Union
School District. We serve a population of over 500 students in kindergarten through
fifth grade. Our roots go deep in Los Altos; Montclaire School has been a
neighborhood school for fifty years. Montclaire, like our district at large,
celebrates diversity as its strength and is committed to developing an
inclusive, caring educational community in which each individual has an equal
opportunity to achieve his or her potential.
Montclaire
is very fortunate to be supported by our Montclaire Educational Foundation (MEF)
and our Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
The MEF raises funds to buy additional teaching time. MEF funds over
200 hours per week of specialized teachers and credentialed teaching
assistants. Our PTA supports Montclaire in many different ways,
including providing music classes for the lower grades, purchasing needed
materials for the school, supporting technology, sponsoring assemblies, and
so much more!
Parent
support of Montclaire School is also seen in the many ways they volunteer
their help. In addition, our school has a shared decision-making process that
includes parents and staff. Our School Site Council is evidence that
this process really works. The school and the community view themselves as a
"family" and a "team," and demonstrate mutual respect,
caring, and communication.
