Contact the school absence hotline (408) 252-4798 x6 immediately to let us know your student is going to be absent. You can also contact your student's teacher to make up any assignments the student will miss. Homework may be picked up after your child's dismissal on the day requested.
If a student has a planned absence of 5-10 days, the parent must request for an independent study agreement from the office. The form should be submitted 2 weeks in advance of the absence to allow the office to prepare for the independent study materials.
Absences on the first and last days of the school year have special rules. Students who have an unexcused absence the first day of school in August will be dropped from the school roster (vacations are unexcused). If a student has an unexcused absence on the last day of school, he/she will not be guaranteed a spot at Lincoln the next year. Refer to the district's policy on attendance about how to be reinstated.
Try to plan all extended family vacations during summer break. It is the district's policy that students who are absent for more than ten (10) consecutive days will be dropped from the roster. When the student returns, if space is available, the student will be reinstated. If no space is available, the student will be assigned to another school in the district where space is available. Refer to the district's policy on attendance.
You may contact the Lincoln School Office, 408-252-4798, for any additional registration questions. Check the new student page for more information.
If your child forgets a lunch bag or homework papers, please bring them to the office. Do not take them to the classroom because it can be disruptive to the class. Make sure that your child's name and room number are clearly written on the item. Please advise your children, before they go to school, to check in the office any time they forget their lunch or homework.
School budgets are tight, so Lincoln Elementary asks parents to donate supplies for their student and their student's class. When families are unable to donate, the school will provide the necessary supplies. Most items are simple, like pencils or a box of tissues. Each grade has a different list of supplies, and the school supply list web page will give you more details.
Many Lincoln parents help children in the classrooms and library, on field trips, and in other special programs. They tutor students, work with small groups, read stories, and assist with projects. If you wish to participate in your child's education, please contact his/her teacher. State law requires that all volunteers must file a Certificate of Tuberculosis Examination with the school office and sign in at the office.
Parents also help with other school activities, like yard duty and supervising the morning "valet" program. Check the Volunteering page for more information.
You are encouraged to submit donations to the school at any time. Tax deductible donations to “Lincoln Elementary School”can be made in the form of checks, equipment or classroom supplies. Lincoln will provide a letter to you to substantiate the donation for tax purposes.
You can also help Lincoln by making a contribution to the Lincoln Educational Enrichment Fund (LEEF) or to the Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation (CEEF).
