| Assemblies: |
The PTA pays for and helps organize student assemblies to enrich the academic program. Assembly topics include visiting authors, endangered animals, science projects, music, exercise, travel, and so on. |
| Book
Fairs: |
There are two annual book fairs that are held in the GLC. You can purchase a variety of fun and interesting books printed by Scholastic. All profits go to the library and are used to buy new books and supplies. Teachers often post “wish lists.” This is a great way to help our teachers expand their classroom libraries! Fall Fair: November; Spring: TBD. |
| Classroom
Funding: |
PTA provides money to teachers for classroom educational supplies. |
| Directory: |
During the fall PTA membership drive, permission/request forms are sent to all parents regarding their desire to be included in the school directory. The directory is provided free to all students. |
| Eisenhower Volunteer Network (EVN): |
The PTA uses this program to coordinate volunteers to fill the school’s needs. During the first week of school, a volunteer form is sent home. It is a good time to review the volunteer jobs available and submit your name to support our programs. |
| eScrip: |
This is a fundraising program in which families register their Safeway, Debit, and/or Credit Cards to receive rebates on their shopping with participating merchants. This is one of the easiest ways for Eisenhower families to earn money for our school – just by doing their normal weekly shopping. Please participate in this program! For more detailed information and online reports, check out: www.escrip.com. Our group ID is 137330912. |
| Fall Fundraiser: |
This program helps fund many of the PTA programs. In the fall the students will receive catalogs and order forms. They raise money for the school by selling wrapping paper and gift items to family and friends. This event happens in September and October. |
| Fall
Social/International Potluck and Entertainment: |
The International Potluck is an evening event where families bring food from their culture to share with others. Entertainment and fashion show consist of students from the Eisenhower community sharing cultural dances, songs and dress.
|
| Fun
Fitness: |
Parent volunteers lead 30 minutes weekly sessions of physical activity for students in K-3rd grades. |
| General
Mills "Box Tops": |
Students collect "Cash for Schools" Box Top logos from participating General Mills products. They turn them into the office, our coordinator mails them to General Mills, General Mills issues our school a check. The more Box Tops logos, the more cash! |
| Holiday
Food Drive: |
During late November-December, students bring canned goods to school. Food is donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) to feed those in need. |
| Holiday
Parties: |
Simple parties are held quarterly in the classrooms to celebrate current holiday themes. The PTA helps teachers recruit “Room Parents” to organize and run the parties, as well as providing ideas and templates to make party planning easy. |
| Hospitality
Functions: |
We provide a luncheon for the Eisenhower staff before school begins in the fall, a Welcome Back Coffee for Eisenhower parents on the first day of school, a Kindergarten Information Coffee in the winter and a Kindergarten Picnic/Play-date the weekend before school starts. |
Ice Cream Social/Spring Picnic:
|
This is an annual event to bring the Eisenhower community together. This is not a fundraiser, but just a social event with minimal charges to cover the cost. Attendees can buy ice cream and toppings. |
| Lost
& Found: |
Volunteers
display accumulated "stuff" for reclaiming. Unclaimed items are later
donated to charity. |
| Morning
Greeting: |
This program facilitates the morning traffic flow in front of the school. Parent and student volunteers help students to exit cars. This takes 15 minutes between 8:15 and 8:30 am. We are always looking for volunteers. Schedules can be very flexible! If you can help, contact the office. |
| Movie Nights: |
The PTA sponsors this evening event in the school’s GLC. Families are encouraged to come and enjoy the movie and popcorn. Based on interest, there may be 1 or 2 movie nights this year. |
| PTA Meetings: |
Meetings are scheduled periodically throughout the year, typically on a Wednesday evening. All parents are welcome to attend and babysitting is provided. This is a great way to learn about what is going on at our school and meet parents who are involved. Occasionally we will have a guest speaker or parent training. |
| Project Cornerstone: |
Each month a parent volunteer will read a specially selected book in your child's class about building social skills. These books focus on positive values like honesty, responsibility, and peaceful conflict resolution, with special attention given to issues like student-to-student respect and how to avoid bullying behaviors. |
| Reading Counts: |
This program helps support Eisenhower’s goal for reading comprehension. PTA has purchased and helps manage books that students can read and then take computer based quizzes on to assess their reading comprehension. |
| Reading Under the Stars: |
At this PTA-sponsored event, parents and their children have an opportunity to bring and read their favorite books, listen to guest readers read their favorite books, and enjoy an evening together celebrating reading. Children may come in their "jammies" and bring a blanket and a pillow to celebrate! Scheduled March 26 in the evening. |
| Red
Ribbon Week: |
During the last week of October, Eisenhower Elementary participates in the National Campaign against drugs, smoking and alcohol. The red ribbon symbolizes the commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Red ribbons are worn and displayed every year during Red Ribbon Week to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a drug-free America. This is a great time to take some time to talk to your child about remaining drug free. |
| Reflections: |
This is a contest sponsored by the National PTA. Students may enter original works of art in four categories: literature, visual arts, photography and music. Work is usually submitted in early October. Student Participation Rules and Official Entry Forms can be picked up in the office. Participation is voluntary. (Sept-early Oct) |
Spelling Bee:

|
We are happy to announce that the Eisenhower PTA and the school are dedicated to enriching your child's learning experience and at the same time making sure they have fun while learning. Language skills are an important aspect of our lives and spelling is at the heart of language. With that in mind, we are proud to offer the Spelling Bee for the first time starting in 2011-12 for Grades 1 through 5. Learn more... |
| Staff Appreciation Week: |
In April, the PTA coordinates a team of volunteers to purchase a gift, provide reminders of our gratitude to the teachers and staff, and coordinate the staff appreciation luncheon. |
Visiting
Author:
|
Each Spring we invite a local children's author to the school to talk about their book(s), share their experiences, and encourage reading/writing with the students. |
| Walk-to-School Day: |
PTA encourages participation in this national program by promoting Walk-to-School day and offering a light snack/mini breakfast to those children who walk, scooter or bike to school on that day. |
| Walk-a-Thon: |
This PTA fund-raising event pays for much of the salary for Eisenhower’s Tech Aide position. Students get pledges from family and friends to sponsor them for the number of laps they can walk or run on our 1/8 mile track in 30 minutes. Usually held in the spring. Learn more about Walk-a-Thon. |
| Yearbook: |
The yearbook consists of class and staff photos, and candid shots from events throughout the year. These beautiful, full color books are sold at cost and distributed in June. |
