The Cupertino Union School District has a district-wide policy requiring all visitors entering a campus while school is in session to sign in at the office to obtain a visitor's badge.
The procedure of having all visitors and volunteers sign in serves two functions. In the event of an emergency, the school office will know exactly how many people are on campus. A more important function is that by having visitors sign in at the office and issuing badges, the school staff is instantly able to identify a parent on campus with school business as opposed to an unauthorized visitor.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe learning environment for all of our students by signing in at the office every time you come on campus while school is in session.
Thank you for your consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact the office at (408) 253-2850 regarding any other questions you may have.
Volunteer Policy
We must make sure that we are in compliance with California State regulations which mandates that parent volunteers who directly serve students in our schools be tested and cleared for tuberculosis in accordance with required state guidelines. Any parent in our school who is providing direct volunteer services to students, including chaperoning field trips and who has not been cleared through the accepted testing methods is not in compliance with state regulations and will be asked to leave until such time that compliance is met. Thank you for your cooperation in following this policy.
Policy for Parent Observation of Classroom
We are very proud of the many programs and opportunities available to the students at Dilworth and are pleased to share them with you. Please keep in mind that our school experiences a tremendous number of requests for observations. Because it is important for us to continue to provide a consistent instructional climate for the students currently in the classrooms, we ask that you follow some guidelines. These rules have been established to allow us to continue to maintain an instructional program while you observe in the rooms. If you have questions or comments, please leave your name and phone number in the office and we will be happy to have someone call you.
- Wednesday has been designated as visitation day at Dilworth. Parents must call the office in advance to schedule an observation appointment. On the day of the visit, please check in and out of the office.
- Visits are for adults only and are scheduled for no more than 20 minutes in the room. Only one adult can observe in the classroom at any given time. Please be prompt. You may leave a class before the time is up; however, we ask that you not enter another classroom or wander around the school but that you return directly to the office to sign out.
- Upon arrival in a classroom, please take a seat and remain seated at all times. Please do not engage in conversation with the teacher or the aide in the classroom. While it is tempting for both you and the classroom teacher to discuss what is happening, it takes valuable instructional time away from the students. The children's papers, the teacher's grade book, etc. are private.
Thank you for your cooperation in following this policy.
