Dear Dilworth Parents and Students,

 

Welcome to Dilworth School and the 2010 - 2011 school year! This handbook contains information about our school and answers many questions that you may have about our schedules, procedures

and policies. Please keep it for reference throughout the school year.

 

We invite you to become an active member of our school by volunteering in your childŐs classroom and participating in the Dilworth Home and School Club (HSC) and the School Site Council (SSC). Your active participation helps make our school a more productive and enjoyable experience for both you and your child. Please read the Dragon Dispatch weekly for announcements and school news.  Attendance

Daily attendance is necessary for students to progress satisfactorily in school.  If your child will be absent or late for school, it is your responsibility to call the 24-hour Attendance Line at 253-2850 ext.6 with the following:

 

v     StudentŐs name, spelling the last name.

 

v     TeacherŐs name or room number.

 

v     Date(s) of absence/tardy.

 

v     Reason for absence/tardy/ nature of illness.

 

v     Homework request, if any.

 

While it is courteous to inform the teacher, your childŐs absence can only be verified if you call it in to the Attendance Line.  Any absence that is not called in is marked as unexcused. 

 

Any student, who is absent for more than 10 consecutive days, including students who are on Independent Study Contract, will be dropped from the schoolŐs roster.  When the student returns, s/he will be reinstated if there is space available.  If we do not have space, the student will be assigned to another school within CUSD where space is available.

 

First Day Policy

Students who have an unexcused absence on the first day of school in August will be dropped from the school roster (vacations are unexcused).  If space is available at his or her school when the student returns, the student will be reinstated.  If no space is available, the student will be assigned to another school in the district where space is available.  If the student is ill, parents must notify the school of the absence and provide documentation.

 

Last Day Policy

Students must be in attendance on the last day of school to guarantee their place in the district for the following school year.  As with the first day of school policy, when the student returns, if space is available at his or her school the student will be reinstated.  If no space is available, the student will be assigned to another school in the district where space is available.  If the student is ill, parents must notify the school of the absence and provide documentation.

 

Arrival and Dismissal

v     Students are not to arrive at school before 8:15 a.m.  There is no supervision on campus before 8:15 a.m.  

 

v     Parents/guardians are expected to pick up their students immediately upon dismissal. 

 

v     Students who are dismissed at 2:30 p.m. may not wait unsupervised until the 3:00 p.m. dismissal to leave the campus.  They are not allowed to play on any play structures, throw or kick balls, climb on the Dilworth sign, or trees, stay behind the bushes or near classroom windows while waiting.

 

v     The blacktop, playground (Kindergarten and upper) and play structures are closed until the upper grades are dismissed at 3:00 p.m. It is very difficult for students to concentrate in class when others are outside their classrooms talking, laughing and playing.

 

 

 

 

 

v     If you are on campus with your children between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and choose not to wait in your car, please wait with them in front of the school.

 

v     Parents whose children habitually remain on campus past the dismissal time will be contacted by the principal to work on a plan so that their children will be picked up on time.

 

Tardiness

It is important that your child arrives promptly at school in the morning.  Any student arriving after 8:30 but before 8:45 a.m. will obtain a late slip from their classroom.  If the student is later than 8:45 a.m. they must obtain a tardy slip from the office before entering his/her classroom.  

 

Students arriving late not only interrupt their classes but also begin their day missing out on valuable learning opportunities.

 

Students Leaving Before Dismissal Time

Students are to remain on campus once they arrive at school.  If you need to pick up your child before the normal dismissal time, you must sign him/her out in the office.  No child will be released directly from the classroom without the appropriate office sign-out.

 

Medical and Dental Appointments

Please make appointments before or after school hours.  When this is not possible and you need to take your child out during school hours, you must come to the office to sign your child out.  Your child will then be paged to meet you in the office.  If your child will return to school after the appointment, you (not your child) must sign him/her in at the office.

 

If your child will be late for school due to medical/dental appointments, you must call in his/her partial absence to the Attendance Line.

 

 

 

Homework, Testing, Report Cards,

Parent/Teacher Goal Setting Conference

 

Homework

Homework is important for students to learn responsibility, good work habits and study skills. The homework policy for each grade level may differ as to the types of homework assigned.  The CUSD Board Policy recommends the following weekly time allotments:

v     Primary (Grades 1-3)      15-40 minutes

v     Upper (Grades 4-5)         60-240 minutes

 

If a student forgets his/her homework at school, s/he cannot return to the classroom after school unless the teacher is still in the classroom. The student will need to check in the office first before going into the classroom after school.  The office staff and custodian do not reopen classrooms after school dismissal.

 

Homework Requests

If a child is absent, parents may request homework through the school office.  The request should be made before morning recess (10:05 a.m.) and the teacher will have the homework ready for pick up on the same day after school  All homework will be in the school office for pick up. 

 

Testing

Each spring, students in grades two through five take standardized achievement tests.  Results from these tests, other district tests, curriculum-related tests and daily assessments are used by teachers to evaluate studentsŐ progress, plan instruction during the year, and help strengthen our academic programs.

 

Report Cards

Report cards are issued at the end of each trimester.  The report cards are standards-based and provide a method to evaluate, record, and communicate student progress, measured against district and state standards.

Parent/Teacher Goal Setting Conference

A parent-teacher goal setting conference occurs approximately 6-8 weeks after the start of school. The purpose of this conference is to set goals for the student.  Please contact your childŐs teacher if you feel a conference is needed at any other time, if you have a concern, or if you have information that may help the teacher to be more effective in working with your child.  Please note that teachers are not available for conferences or phone calls during class hours.

 

Student Conduct & School Rules

The key to effective discipline is consistency and positive support for appropriate behavior.  We believe that:

 

v     The attainment of good citizenship behavior is a shared responsibility of the home and the school.

 

v     Adequate discipline and classroom management are essential to good citizenship and effective learning at school.

 

v     Self-discipline, which includes being responsible for oneŐs own actions, is an important goal of education.

 

School Rules

v     Students must use appropriate language.  Name-calling, swearing or use of obscene language is strictly prohibited.

 

v     No weapons of any kind, including toy weapons, are allowed on campus.  (See Zero Tolerance Policy in the next section.)

 

v     There are no exclusive games or activities.

 

v     During recess and lunch, all food is to be eaten at the picnic tables and benches.  No food is allowed on the playground or field. 

 

v     Students must remain seated at the picnic tables and wait to be dismissed by the yard duty supervisor(s).

 

v     Students are NOT to bring from home pokeman cards, cameras, trading cards, yoyos, pets, toys, and electronic games and sound devices.

 

v     Stay on the mowed part of the grass area; do not play in the back section of the field.

 

v     Walk on the blacktop.

 

v     Playground balls are to be kicked on the grass area only and never on the blacktop area. Rubber balls are the only type to be used on the ball walls.

 

v     If a student brings appropriate playground equipment from home they are to follow all school rules and may not lock anyone out of a game.

 

v     When waiting in line, take your turn, do not

give cuts, or trade positions.

 

v     Students may possess cellular phones under specific conditions.  Cell phones must be turned off during the school day, including recess and lunch. If the cell phone rings or is used anytime during the school day, it will be confiscated and will be returned only to a parent.  The school will not be responsible for lost or stolen cell phones.

 

Students are NOT allowed to engage in the these activities:

v     Fighting, play fighting, wrestling, chase games or tackling

v     Gum chewing

v     Throwing of dirt, rocks, tan bark, etc.

v     No tripping, pushing, or piling up of players

v     No locking of games

v     Do not play on the grass area behind the portables

v     No footballs

v     Climbing on the roof or on any granite signs

v     Bicycling, skate boarding, heelies, roller blading, skating and the use of scooters on school grounds

Dogs

California Education Code Section 32210, California Penal Code Section 626.8, and CUSD Policy AR 1330 stipulate that animals are NOT allowed on school grounds as posted on the metal signs located on the perimeter fence.  Horses, dogs, and cats are examples of forbidden animals but this is by no means a complete list.  Any animal that is necessary under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 will be allowed.

 

School Safety

 

Zero Tolerance

In October 1993, the CUSD Board of Education adopted a resolution of Zero Tolerance for violence, weapons and drugs on school campuses or at school activities off campus.  State law, California Education Code regulations and CUSD policy require the immediate suspension and recommendation for expulsion of any student who possesses or furnishes a firearm, knife, explosive or other dangerous object on school grounds or at school events off the school grounds.

 

The following items are prohibited:

v     Firearms, explosive or any other similar dangerous object

v     Knives, including kitchen knives, plastic knives, pocket knives and rubber knives

v     Toy weapons, including squirt guns or plastic type guns

v     Firecrackers, poppers and rockets

v     Alcoholic beverages

v     Illegal drugs

v     Smoking

 

There shall be no use of equipment of any type that would present a hazard to other users or the property.  Forbidden are golf balls, tennis balls, shot puts, archery, javelins, model rockets, or gasoline powered model airplanes.

 

 
Tobacco-Free/Smoke-Free Environment

 

Dilworth is a tobacco-free/smoke-free facility in accordance with the State of California and CUSD Board Policy 3513.3.  The possession of tobacco or any products containing tobacco or nicotine products by any student is grounds for suspension.

 

Traffic/Parking Lot

 

General Rules

v     Obey the Crossing Guard.

v     Students are to walk on the sidewalks.

v     Students are to cross at crosswalks, if available, and at the corner if no crosswalks are visible.

v     Students should walk around the parking lot and not cross at the entry and exit driveways.

v     No parking in the drop off/pick up zones.

v     The driver must remain in the vehicle in the drop off/pick up zones at all times.

v     If you need to leave your vehicle, park either in the lot or on the street. 

v     There is no parking or stopping at any time at any red-curbed area or bus zones.

v     Do not use cell pones while operating your vehicle.

 

Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up
On Tompkins Drive

Drive into the parking lot and pull all the way forward around the curve.  Stop at the curb to let your child(ren) out of your car.  Do not let your child(ren) out unless you are at the curb.  Drivers only turn right when exiting the parking lot during drop off and pick up times.  Please stay to the right of the lines.  When pulling back onto Tompkins, please watch for cars and pedestrians.  You may also consider parking your car on Tompkins and walking with your child onto the campus.

On Strayer Drive

Drive into either of the two entrances of the parking lot and pull all the way forward around the curve.  Stop at the curb and let your child(ren) out of your car.  Do not let your child(ren) out unless you are at the curb. Do not stop in the bus zone. Keep this zone clear. When pulling back onto Strayer please watch for cars and pedestrians. You may also consider parking your car on Strayer and walking with your child onto the campus.

 

Afternoon Pickup

Please be sure your child(ren) knows at which location you will meet them (Tompkins or Strayer).  Please tell your children to come to the pick up location immediately upon dismissal.  Drivers must be at the curb to load their child (ren) into the car.

 

Tuesday Afternoon Pick Up

Because all students are released at 1:55 p.m. on Tuesdays, the traffic is heavier.  Please try to arrange a carpool, walk or ride bikes, or plan on parking on surrounding streets.

 

Transportation By Means of Bikes, Scooters, Rollerblades

It is the parentsŐ decision to determine at what age their children are responsible enough to ride to school.  All students riding to school must wear helmets. Bicycles and scooters must be locked up in the bike racks while at school.  Please equip your childŐs bike with a lock.  Change of shoes and skates should be done on the grass at the front of the school.

 

All bicycles/razors are brought to school at the ownerŐs risk.  The school does not assume responsibility for any damage or theft that may occur while the bicycles/razors are on campus. 

 

California Education Code Section 32210, California Penal Code Section 626.8, and California Vehicle Code Section 21113 state that no self-propelled vehicles, go-carts, motor scooters, skateboards, motorcycles, automobiles or any other vehicular traffic will be permitted on the school grounds without the authorization of the superintendent or designee.

Wellness Policy

Due to increased rates of childhood obesity and diabetes, federal and state law requires school districts with federally-funded meal programs to implement wellness policies which address nutrition and physical activity.  Food served during the school day and for school activities must meet the required nutritional standards.  The district will be making food changes in the student lunch program.  Classroom celebrations held during the school day involving food will be limited and must meet nutritional requirements.  School will also need to meet physical education standards for all students in all grades involving daily physical activity.  Dilworth parents will receive a list of district/state-approved lists of food.

 

Birthday Celebrations

The Dilworth staff, School Site Council, and Home and School Club support the following guidelines.

 

v     Kindergarten and SDC Classes – Students may celebrate their birthdays with food if the food is on the district/state-approved list.  Teachers will distribute those lists to parents at the beginning of the school year.

 

v     Grades 1-5 – Birthday celebrations may occur in the classrooms, but parents are asked not to bring food. Celebrations for birthdays should be with small books, pencils, or Ňgoody bagsÓ which contain non-food items.  The serving of food will be reserved for the holiday celebrations that occur throughout the year.

 

Health Issues

Illness

A child should not be in school when s/he has:

 

v     Nausea or vomiting, or has vomited during the night

v     Diarrhea

v     Severe headache or migraines

v     Evidence of a communicable disease such as a rash, swelling or unusual sores

v     Temperature of 100 degrees or above

 

If a child has had a fever, s/he may not return to school until it has been normal for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol.

 

We have students whose abilities to fight off infections may be weakened due to illness, medication and chemotherapy.  For these students, common childhood illnesses can be life threatening.  We therefore ask that if your child is diagnosed with a communicable disease or infection, such as chicken pox, measles, mumps, meningitis, strep throat or pink eye, please report this immediately to the office so that we can notify the parents of children with special health conditions. 

 

If your child has had a communicable disease, s/he may not return to school until s/he has been on an antibiotic for 48 hours.

 

A parent will be notified and asked to come pick up his/her child if the child exhibits any of the following symptoms:

 

v     Temperature above normal

v     Nausea or vomiting

v     Diarrhea

v     Severe headache or migraine

v     Spasm or convulsion

v     Evidence of a communicable disease

v     Any severe accident, including a deep cut, possible fracture or dislocation

v     Any accident requiring immediate medical attention

v     Complaints from the student of feeling ill when s/he was home the day before or felt ill before coming to school

v     We have students who have severe allergies, such as peanuts and peanut oil. Food served in class activities will not include harmful ingredients for those students with allergies.

Teachers will inform you if there are any such students in your childŐs classroom.

 

Injuries

Students injured while at school are cared for in the following ways:

 

1.      A teacher will inspect the injury and may keep the student under observation in the classroom.

 

2.     For a more serious injury, the student is sent to the office for first aid.  The studentŐs name is recorded and the action taken is noted.

 

3.     If a student receives a blow to the head, his/her parent is notified of the incident whether it appears serious or not.

 

No student is sent home until his/her parent is contacted and plans are made for transportation.  Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.

 

Medication

California Education Code Section 49423 allows the school nurse or other designated school personnel to assist students who are required to take medication during the school day.  This service is provided to enable the student to remain in school in order to maintain or improve the potential for learning. 

 

To use this service, the parent is required to sign a Medication Authorization Form to be kept on file in the office.  Please note that the Medical Authorization is valid for one school year only.

 

All medication prescriptions must be current and medication must be supplied in its original prescription bottle with the pharmacy label attached.  Ask your pharmacist to divide the medication into two bottles completely labeled, one for home and one for school.  The medication must be prescribed to the student to whom it will be administered. 

 

No medications, including over-the-counter medications, will be given without a doctorŐs prescription.  Parents must pick up all medication from the office at the end of the school year.  Any medication not picked up at the end of the school year will be discarded.

 

Vision Screening

All students in Kindergarten, 3rd, and SDC grades and all 1st grade boys will have a vision screening.  Parents of any students whom the school nurse deems as needing medical follow-up will be notified.

 

Hearing Screening

All students in 1st, 2nd, 5th and SDC grades will have a hearing screening.  Should a possible hearing problem be discovered, parents will be notified by the school nurse. 

 

Lunch Program

 

Hot Lunch Procedure

Hot lunches are available to students for a nominal fee.  As hot lunches are subsidized by the state, they must be consumed on campus.   Parents may use the blue lunch envelopes, which are available in the office, to send checks/cash to prepay for their studentsŐ hot lunches.  

 

Each student is assigned a Personal Identification Number (PIN) which s/he will use to purchase hot lunch, milk and/or juice.  Any account balances in the current year will be applied toward the following year as long as the child stays in a CUSD school, or parents can request a refund. 

 

Free or reduced price lunches are available to those students who qualify.  Contact the office for details. Students may not share or trade lunches.

 

Forgotten Lunches

If you are dropping off a lunch for your child, please bring it to the office before noon and not the classroom so as to minimize interruptions.  Make sure your childŐs name and room number are clearly marked on the lunch.  For your childŐs

safety NEVER ask him/her to leave their class or playground to meet you in front of the school.

 

Miscellaneous

 

Back To School Night

Our Back To School Night is usually held in September.  It provides an opportunity for you to visit your childŐs classroom and listen to his/her teacher explain curriculum expectations and programs planned for the school year.  This is an evening for parents only and children are not to attend.

 

Change of Address/Telephone Numbers

It is important that the school has all your current address and phone numbers.  Remember to notify the office immediately of any changes in address, telephone numbers, emergency pick-up contactsÉetc.  In the event of an emergency, it is imperative that the school be able to contact you quickly. Your child can only be released to a person who is an emergency contact on your card.

 

Communication With Home

We keep parents informed about our programs, special events, and other newsworthy items via the weekly Dispatch, teachersŐ monthly newsletters, and CUSD flyers.  Friday is set aside for sending schoolwork and such notices home.  It is our hope that parents will take time to read their childrenŐs Friday Folder and the Dispatch online at our school website. Your interest will help your child know that you care about what is happening at school. Hard copies of the Dispatch will be available in the office or let your teacher know if youŐd like a hard copy of the Dispatch sent home in the Friday Folder.  If you have any questions or comments about the notices that the school sends home, please feel free to contact the office.

Dress Code

 

The CUSD policy stipulates that students should wear Ňclean and safe clothes appropriate for all school activitiesÓ.  Clothing should not be hazardous to a childŐs safety nor distract from the ŇlearningÓ environment. 

 

v     Students should wear shoes that are appropriate for physical educational activities on every school day.

 

v     Short shorts, short dresses, tank tops, tube tops, and half shirts that show the midriff and belly button are not appropriate for school.

 

v     Beach attire, tops with small straps and bare shoulders, dyed hair, makeup, tattoos and high heels are not allowed.

 

v     Clothing or materials that display obscene language, refer to drugs, or have pictures of cigarettes and/or alcohol are not permitted.

 

v     Hats worn on the playground to shelter from the sun are appropriate. but hats should not be worn in classrooms.

 

Field Trips

Teachers schedule field trips as extension activities to the curriculum.  The admission and transportation costs of these field trips are calculated using the total number of students in a class or grade level and must be paid in advance.  Therefore, no refunds can be issued due to a studentŐs illness or absence on the date of the field trip. 

 

All checks should be made out to Dilworth School.  Remember to write the studentŐs name and teacher on the check.  No student will be excluded due to his/her familyŐs inability to afford the cost of field trips.  Please contact the office for financial assistance. 

 

 

 

Independent Study Contract

If you know ahead of time that your child will be on vacation for 5 to 10 days, consider signing an Independent Study (IS) Contract with the school. District assigned classwork will be assigned to your child to complete during the trip.

 

Students who are absent for more than 10 consecutive days, including students on Independent Study, will be dropped from the schoolŐs roster.  They will be re-admitted on a space-availability basis.  Contact the office for details.

 

Leaving Dilworth

Please notify the office in advance if your child will be leaving Dilworth.  This allows the school and the teacher time to prepare placement information for your childŐs new school.

 

Lost and Found

All lost clothing and lunch boxes are kept in the Lost and Found bins in the hallway next to the restroom. These items, if not claimed, are donated to charity.  Lost valuables such as keys, watches, glasses, jewelry, cell phones etc. are kept in the office.

 

Open House

Our Open House is usually held in May.  It provides an opportunity for you to visit your childŐs classroom and see his/her work.  This is an evening for current Dilworth families only and is not open to the public.

 

Parent Observation

We are very proud of the many programs and opportunities available to our students and are pleased to share them with you.  It is important for us to provide a consistent instructional environment for our students, so we have established the following parent observation guidelines to allow us to maintain uninterrupted instruction while you observe in the classroom.

 

 

 

v     Wednesday has been designated as visitation day.  Parents must call the office in advance to schedule an observation appointment.  On the day of the visit, parents must first check in at the office.

 

v     Observations are for parents only (no children) and are scheduled for 20 minutes.  Only one parent can observe in the classroom at any given time.  Please be prompt, as tardiness will cut into the scheduled observation time.  School personnel will walk the parent to and from the classroom.

 

v     Upon arrival in the classroom, please remain seated at the back of the classroom.  Do not engage in conversation with the teacher, instructional aide or students.

 

School Library

Books are treasures that we hope to keep around for a very long time so everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy them. Please remind your children that there are things they can do to help preserve the shelf life of a book.

 

1.  Always have clean hands when reading a book.

2.  Never eat or drink when reading books.

3.  Take care when handling books. Books are considered fragile.

4.  Store your books in a clean, safe, dry location when not in use. 

5.  Never write or draw in a library book.

 

Your child visits our library once a week with his/her class. The library is also open at recess and lunch for all. Please take time to read to/with your child each night. It is something you both will enjoy.

 

School Portrait

Our school photographer comes on campus to take student portraits three times a year – individual portraits in the fall, class pictures in the winter, and individual spring portraits in the spring.  Portrait order envelopes are sent home a few days before the portrait day.

 

 

Student Council

The focus of the Dilworth Student Council Leadership is to promote pride in our school, help students develop leadership and communication skills, and to perform school and community services.  All students in grades 1-5 vote for their Student Leadership Team every year.

 

Telephone Use

Students may use the school phone for emergencies only.  Forgotten homework, paper, booksÉetc. are not emergencies.  The school does not permit the use of the school phone to arrange for after school social events.

 

Textbooks and Library Books

Your child will be charged for lost/destroyed library and classroom textbooks that s/he is responsible for.  You will be charged the replacement cost of the lost/destroyed book.  Books are very expensive and the school cannot afford to absorb the cost of lost or destroyed books.  If a lost book is found after you have paid for it, your money will be refunded.

 

Use of The School Grounds 

The school grounds are open for community group use during daylight hours when school is not in session.  Users must submit the appropriate user permits to CUSD for approval.   Note that the school does not provide any supervision on such types of activities.  Contact the office for details.

 

Viewing Student Records

You may view your childŐs cumulative records by making an appointment with the principal to do so.  An appointment must be made in advance in the office.

 

 

Visitors

Education Code Section 32210 states that all visitors, including parents, district employees and volunteers, must sign in at the school office when school is in session.  This policy is to ensure safety and order on campus and to minimize disruption to classroom instruction.  Each visitor must wear a badge at all times during his/her visit.  We ask that students from other schools, whether relatives, friends or former students, not visit during the regular school hours.

 

Volunteering/PPD

Parents can volunteer their time to help the students in many ways. They can: assist the teachers in the classroom, photocopy, correct papers, chaperone field trips, assist in the computer lab, compile book orders, help in reading groupsÉetc. If you would like to volunteer, please contact your childŐs teacher or the office. If you would like to volunteer in the school office please contact the office directly. The more volunteers we have, the better we are able to serve our students.

 

We must make sure that we are in compliance with California State regulations which mandates that parent volunteers who directly serve students in our schools be tested and cleared for tuberculosis in accordance with required state guidelines.  Any parent in our school who is providing direct volunteer services to students, including chaperoning field trips and who has not been cleared through the accepted testing methods is not in compliance with state regulations and will be asked to leave until such time that compliance is met.

 

Yard Duty

Yard Duty serves an important role to ensure a safe school environment for our students during lunch (12:00 p.m. to 12:40 p.m.)  This is a paid position.  It also provides an opportunity to work with our wonderful children.

 

We welcome parent volunteers to assist us in yard duty. If you are interested in doing Yard

Duty, please contact the office.

 

Overnight Education Program

Our 5th grade students and teachers attend the Overnight Education Program for four days.  During that time, students receive hands-on learning in ecology, science and conservation.  Parents pay the tuition for the program. 

 

John F. Kennedy University Counseling Service

CUSD has a contract with John F. Kennedy University (JFK) to provide counselor interns at school sites to work with students who need counseling.  JFK personnel supervise these interns.  A parent permission form has to be signed before a counselor can contact the family.

 

Special Educational Programs and Services

CUSD provides a wide range of programs for students with challenging conditions and learning needs. 

 

v     The Resource Specialist is trained in the diagnosis and prescription of learning problems and coordinates the special education programs within the school.

v     The Speech and Language Program is

designed to meet the needs of identified students.

 

v     The School Psychologist assesses students for learning problems that may interfere with their ability to learn, and assists in developing the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dilworth Home & School Club

The purpose of the Dilworth Home & School Club is to improve the well being of our children by bringing the Dilworth community together to work as a team.  Our Home & School Club (HSC) provides our students with many enrichment opportunities.  Funds raised support instructional personnel, additional educational materials, academic programs and assemblies. Home & School Club meetings are held once a month on Thursday evenings in the Guided Learning Center (GLC). Babysitting is provided.

 

School Site Council

The School Site Council (SSC) provides a vehicle through which school personnel and parents work together to improve the quality of education here at Dilworth.  SSC members update the school plan annually to see that the goals of the plan are being met, help to decide how the state SIP funds received are spent, and discuss school wide issues. 

 

The SSC meets monthly from September to June at a time agreed upon by its members. The SSC consists of 4 parents, 2 teachers, a classified staff member, and the principal.
